Nikolai is Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist, educator and community organizer. He has a BFA from NYU Tisch in the Experimental Theatre Wing, with a concentration in direction for interdisciplinary performance.
He has worked internationally as director/creator, bringing life to new work, as well as new life to classics. His work aims to highlight narratives of the oppressed, with levity and resilience.
As a songwriter/composer/musician, in addition to his own productions, he has collaborated on numerous new theatrical and video projects, and is currently playing and releasing music with his band And Lucky.
He has developed or performed in work at Joe's Pub, HERE Arts, LaMama, Target Margin Theater, The Tank, The Brick, IRT 3B, New Ohio, Dixon Place, Loading Dock, Theater for the New City, NYU Tisch/ETW, and has worked with Public Works, Pipeline Theater Co, Theatre Reconstruction Ensemble, Great Small Works, Downtown Urban Arts Festival, American Realness, Theater Plastique, Talking Band, Mad & Merry.
He also works as a photographer capturing intimate moments of expressionism, and is currently organizing for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez' Homework Helpers program, and Jewish Voice for Peace's Storytelling Project.
